Allan takes reigns at MediaCom Worldwide

Enter alt description text hereUK chief executive of WPP’s GroupM Steve Allan is to take the reigns at MediaCom Worldwide as its new chairman and chief executive.

Allan will replace Alexander Schmidt-Vogel, who is believed to be moving to a trading position within the company.

Schmidt-Vogel has been in the role of chief exectuive at MediaCom Worldwide since 2002. Prior to that he was the chairman and chief executive of MediaCom Europe.

It is understood that Nick Theakstone, GroupM UK's chief operating officer, will replace Allan as head of GroupM.

Prior to joining GroupM, Allan was the UK chief executive of MediaCom for five years.

He was appointed as chief executive of Group M when the WPP moved MediaCom into its buying unit in 2005.

Allan was responsible for creating a new management structure at Group M, appointing Theakstone to the position of chief operating officer responsible for non-trading areas.

Recent wins for MediaCom include the £10.5 million Navman account and the global £850 million Dell account.
