DeefordBauer Radio is to relaunch Q Radio on 2 June as part of a £10 million investment in its brands, mad.co.uk can reveal.

The new content of the digital-only station will be driven by the editorial team of the Bauer-owned magazine, taking it away from its current jukebox format. Details of programming and presenters have yet to be finalised.

Dee Ford (pictured), group managing director at Bauer Radio, said Q Magazine’s editor Paul Rees “is at the heart” of the radio offering.

The date comes as Bauer plans to invest heavily in its radio brands across the country this year with an emphasis on new launches, developments for some of its Big City network of stations and investment in Kiss 100 in London.

The dance music station is to see an additional £1 million pounds invested “to reignite the brand”, according to Steve Parkinson, marketing director at Bauer Radio and managing director of Kiss.

As part of the investment, the station is to be the exclusive radio partner on Thursday and Saturday of the O2 Wireless music festival taking place in London this July.

Separately, Ford said she hoped that Global Radio’s acquisition of GCap would happen and go through quickly, believing it will create a “much healthier competitor”.

Last week, Bauer Consumer Media named managing director of Magic 105.4 Andria Vidler as chief marketing officer across all radio, magazine and TV brands.
