Investment group snaps up BrandRapport
Ingenious Media Active Capital (IMAC), a media company investor, has funded the purchase of the UK’s leading independent sponsorship agency, BrandRapport.
IMAC has spent £7.5 million creating Qobliq, an agency that offers sponsorship, digital and experiential marketing to brands.
Qobliq, in turn, has acquired BrandRapport for an undisclosed sum. The deal is the 15th investment by IMAC in a media or marketing company since 2006.
BrandRapport was formed in 1982 as Craigie Taylor International, becoming GEM in 2002, before a rebrand to its current name last year.
The agency offers consultancy and sponsorship activation to clients including Vodafone, AXA and Nationwide. A Hong Kong arm was opened in 2005.
BrandRapport will now be overseen by the management team at Qobliq, led by Xavier Quattrocchi-Oubradous and Roland Giscard d’Estaing, who founded Paris-based sponsorship agency SARL.
Andrew Dwyer, chief executive of BrandRapport, said: “Ingenious, Roland and Xavier have a deep understanding of our industry and fully support our desire to become more international, in order to service our blue chip clients around the world.
“Their unique expertise and network will enable us to build a leading global sponsorship agency. Our clients have always pushed us to expand geographically, and we will soon be in a position to deliver the same quality of service on a much larger scale.”
Patrick Bradley, director of Ingenious Ventures, manager of IMAC, said: “BrandRapport is going to be the cornerstone in our plan to build QobliQ as an international innovative marketing services group. We are delighted to have the company join us in QobliQ as they are leaders in the sponsorship market – a sector with double digit growth.”
