myspaceSocial networking site MySpace has launched of new entertainment channel, Scene Junkie.

The channel aims to connect users with the “who's who on MySpace”, from A-list celebrities and artists to “fashionistas and rising stars” and will feature new talent, exclusive news, features, pictures, videos and blogs updated daily.

Scene Junkie’s launch will give MySpace users a platform to participate in celebrity culture and entertainment news. They can also become friends with whoever they discover, as well as send messages, post comments and share celebrity videos.

Jamie Kantrowitz, senior vice president of marketing and content for MySpace International, said: "Scene Junkie is the new home for all the movers and shakers on MySpace, and a platform for them to express themselves directly to their fans.

“For the first time our users can find this talent all in one place, and not just the A-listers; they can also discover the power users that build their fame from our site.  Scene Junkie is essentially a next-generation newswire, allowing talent and fans to connect in ways that haven't been possible before."

Last month, MySpace launched a beta test version of what it called a “Community Builder” advertising platform in the United States. The new platform gives MySpace advertisers the ability to build, maintain and customise brand profiles.
