Sky to produce TV programme listing guide for UK viewers
Sky is to launch an online electronic programme guide (EPG) to provide UK viewers with a comprehensive TV listings service.
The Online Sky Guide has more than 600 channels and up to seven days' advance programme listings, along with interactive and personalisation features.
Sky has opened the guide up to all UK users and even enables Freeview and Virgin Media customers to personalise the service to view listings by their platform provider.
The EPG is a play by the satellite broadcaster to attract customers and boost user traffic to its online properties.
The guide, available through a host of Sky sites including Sky.com, Sky Sports and Sky Arts, has remote-record programme settings, click and drag navigation and advanced search options, allowing users to search by programme title or sports genre.
The site also has detailed programme information, related programmes recommendations and listings of other airing times for programmes, ratings, regional settings and favourites.
Sarah Raine, head of content and product development at Sky, said, "This site is for Sky customers, as well as prospective customers and general users. We wanted to make a site that was usable for all."
Raine said there were no current plans to add links to streamed content, but added it could be introduced in the future.
