Danish footwear brand Ecco has appointed integrated marketing agency Joshua G2 to handle its global integrated business as it moves to boost its style credentials.

The business is understood to be worth an estimated £3m. The agency, which has previously worked with the company on a project basis, has been appointed without a pitch. It will work across its casual and style lines and has been tasked with strengthening Ecco's position as a fashion brand with a focus on the lucrative women's footwear market.

It will handle in-store point- of-sale activity, press, outdoor and trade marketing support globally. It will also work with the fashion retailer on new product development initiatives.

Ecco vice-president of global marketing Claus Kjaersgaard says: "We chose Joshua G2 because it demonstrated a clear grasp of our brand with strong strategic insights, creative ideas and extensive knowledge of the retail trade."

Last month the company handed its media business for Hong Kong and China, worth up to £1m, to PHD following a three-way pitch. Ecco roster agencies in the UK include John Bowler Associates and Initiative Media.

Joshua G2 is part of the WPP-owned Grey global group network. Other consumer retail clients include Sara Lee-owned Ambi Pur, Masterfoods pet food and GlaxoSmithKline-owned toothpaste brands Sensodyne and Aquafresh.
