football superstarsInfectious, the newly-formed digital media agency, has won its first major client with an appointment to handle the seven-figure media account for new virtual world Football Superstars.

Appointed by game developer Cybersports, the agency, founded by Isobar former group trading director Andy Cocker and Media Republic director Martin Kelly, is helping to create a system to define the value of the players in the new world.

Andy Cocker, managing partner at Infectious said the information will be used to create highly-targeted ad campaigns within the Football Superstars world.

"We will be putting in place a sophisticated tracking infrastructure to measure what people do in the game," he said. "This will then feed back into the marketing plan."

Football Superstars, which is currently in beta, will launch in the last week of September and is set in a virtual world where players can play football matches as well as socialise in bars and visit virtual stores. Puma and Reebok have already signed deals to appear in the world.

IGA Worldwide and Unanimis have both been appointed to serve in-world advertising.
