DDB Worldwide wins £85m Tourism Australia account
Tourism Australia has named DDB Worldwide as its global advertising agency to handle its estimated £85 million account.
The agency won the account after a final showdown with Saatchi & Saatchi and replaces incumbent M&C Saatchi. Tourism Australia’s media planning and buying pitch is still ongoing.
M&C Saatchi developed the attention-grabbing and controversial campaign featuring the “So where the bloody hell are you?” strapline.
The tourist body has already revealed that its marketing focus in the short term will be on maximising opportunities presented by the new Baz Luhrmann-directed film Australia. This is due to open in November this year and stars Nicole Kidman among others.
The creative pitch started in February and concluded with final presentations in Sydney at the end of May. Other agencies on the shortlist included Publicis Mojo, Singleton Ogilvy & Mather and Whybinn/TBWA.
