Nintendo to sponsor Sky’s Gladiators
BSkyB has secured Nintendo Wii to sponsor the return of Gladiators to UK screens.
The show is scheduled to launch on Sky One and Sky One HD with 15 one hour shows in May following a successful revival in the US.
Nintendo Wii will be the show’s exclusive broadcast sponsor and will enjoy exposure across all repeat transmissions and sponsorship of allied programming, such as The A to Z of Gladiators and Gladiators Ready! The Gladiators Story.
The company will benefit from opening idents, closing idents and break bumpers and the deal also includes sponsorship of the Gladiators microsite, including pre-rolls on all video and display ad inventory.
Nintendo will also sponsor all on-demand Gladiator content programming through Sky Anytime on TV.
Creative for the sponsorship idents will be devised by Karmarama. The deal was negotiated by Damien Gillman at MEC Access and Stephen Ladlow at Sky Media.
Gladiators will be hosted by presenters Ian Wright and Kirsty Gallacher and the referee from the original series John Anderson.
Rob Lowe, Nintendo senior product manager, said: “The sense of fun, entertainment and energy embodied by Gladiators is something which clearly resonates with our own brand … we look forward to reaching a broad family audience through one of the highlights of Sky.”
