Chrysler appoints Meyer as CMO
Chrysler has poached Toyota Motor’s Deborah Meyer to become its first chief marketing officer.
Meyer, currently VP-marketing of Toyota Motor Sales USA's Lexus Division, will add vice president to her title and report to Steven Landry, exec VP-North American sales, global marketing, service and parts.
She starts her new role at the end of the month.
The new appointment is the first under Chrysler’s new chairman and chief executive Bob Nardelli, who took the helm earlier this month.
In May, Chrysler Group's senior vice president of global brand marketing George Murphy left the company after six years.
Last week, the car giant announced plans to expand its engineering and procurement activities in eastern Europe, Latin America and other emerging economies as part of a drive to raise its profile outside North America.
Cerberus Capital Management, the private-equity group that recently took 80 per cent control of the carmaker, has also pledged to invest in new engines to the tune of £1.5 billion.
