The BBC is working towards integrating its news interactive team and the other BBC news teams into a central newsroom, in a similar fashion to The Daily Telegraph.

The move is in its early stages, but the feeling within the BBC is that an integrated newsroom will help ensure news is published to the first available platform as it breaks.

It's understood that it will have echoes of The Daily Telegraph's new integrated newsroom.

"We aim to have a core news team that reaches across platforms by the end of the year," said Pete Clifton, head of BBC News Interactive. "We're looking to remove the separation between interactive and our other news outputs, cut out duplication and share key information."

The BBC has also begun trialling embedded video on its BBC News website, as the Corporation looks to further develop its digital offering in the coming months.

"We're experimenting with embedded video trials right now to see what our users think," said Clifton. "As we move forward, though, we'll be giving over a greater space to video and audio content, placing this in the middle of our pages."

The trials will run for six weeks across the BBC's technology and sports channels.

Despite the integration of The Daily Telegraph's news team and the BBC's intentions, The Guardian currently has no plans to integrate its newsroom, according to Neil McIntosh, head of editorial development at Guardian Unlimited.

"I've yet to see an integrated newsroom that really benefits from the model," he said.

Clifton also revealed that the BBC would begin streaming its News 24 programme on the site from this week, and intended to have a public-service channel on YouTube by the summer.
