MerlinCarlton Screen Advertising (CSA) and MPG have developed a campaign for the BBC’s new Saturday night drama ‘Merlin’ which includes Magic Symbol technology being used in cinema foyers for the first time.

The Magic Symbol activity will run across ten CSA cinema sites over three weekends in September with standees and postcards placed in an additional ten sites

Cinema-goers will be provided with special cards which, when waved at the screen, will generate a clip from the Merlin book of spells.

The Magic Symbol technology is part of a wider campaign breaking today (August 29), which includes on-screen pre-reel content and a dedicated BBC Merlin website.

The 13-part series will run in the early Saturday evening slot from the start of September.

Last month, ITV completed the £500,000 sale of CSA to a joint venture between cinema distributors Odeon and Cineworld called Digital Cinema Media.
