DX Media, operator of NME Radio under licence from IPC Media, has appointed Matt Priest as head of sponsorship and promotions, live events and marketing.
Priest joins the presenter-driven 24 hour radio station after nearly four years at production company Ten Alps Live where he was head of music events.
He brings solid marketing and event experience in the indie music scene, and is credited with launching Metro Weekender on Clapham Common and Dr Martens’ brand sponsorship of Ibiza Rocks.
Prior to Ten Alps, Matt was at Radio 1 for 10 years where he helped boost the public broadcaster’s involvement in live music, including managing Radio 1’s presence at major UK festivals.
Sammy Jacob, managing director of DX Media, said: “I’m delighted to have Matt on board. Live music is inherent in everything we do. His experience and creativity, both editorially and commercially, will be extremely valuable.”
Prior to Radio 1, Priest was involved with the Mean Fiddler organisation where he held the position of head of sponsorship for the group’s festivals and venues and, later, as an executive producer for dance music, he helped launch the careers of Rob Da Bank and Annie Mac among others.
NME Radio launched today at 11am via nmeradio.co.uk, Sky radio channel 0184 and Virgin Media channel 975. More digital platform launches are expected in the near future.
