SkittlesMars is to move some brands, Skittles and Starburst included, to its newly created Wrigley subsidiary.

The move comes as it was announced that the £13 billion acquisition has won the support of Wrigley shareholders and regulatory approval.

All of Mars’ “global non-chocolate confectionary sugar” brands, a category which also includes Tunes and Lockets, will now sit under the Wrigley subsidiary next to chewing gum brands Juicy Fruit, Orbit and Extra.

Wrigley will operate as a separate business segment alongside Mars’ existing units of Chocolate, Petcare, Food, Drinks and Symbioscience.

Paul S. Michaels, president and chief executive of Mars, says: “The combination of our two strong international businesses, with best-in-class global brands, also creates one of the world’s leading confectionery companies.”
