Nectar is ditching its offline coupon system by launching its first bespoke online offer, My Bonus Points, in a bid to become more environmentally friendly.
Nectar cardholders will be encouraged to opt in to offers online from partners including Sainsbury’s, BP and Gala Bingo. It is hoped that the new initiative will boost Nectar’s green credentials by discouraging offers from being sent through the post.
My Bonus Points will for the first time allow Nectar cardholders to redeem personalised digital offers in-store or online using a unique code.
Once cardholders have made a purchase, their bonus points will be automatically awarded to their online account.
Nectar managing director Brian Sinclair comments: “As part of Nectar’s goal to be the world’s leading customer-led loyalty programme, we needed to deliver a digital offer solution for the millions of online Nectar collectors, and with My Bonus Points we are delivering this on a rather grand scale. We are using one-to-one digital marketing technology to engage our customers in a highly relevant and environmentally friendly way. To give an idea of the scale of this, we expect My Bonus Points to contain over half a billion personalised offers to Nectar Collectors during 2009.”
